Why Willenhall families choose Ingram Academy

A dance school run by a qualified teacher, in a studio built for dancers, where every child gets the chance to shine.

  • Taught by a qualified teacher

Kate Ingram trained at the Urdang Academy in London and holds a dance degree, a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status. She taught dance and drama in secondary schools before opening the Academy.

  • Recognised IDTA exams

Dancers work towards qualifications with the IDTA, a worldwide recognised examination board, and are encouraged to take as many exams as they can.

  • Our own purpose-built studio

We turned an empty warehouse into a studio with a harlequin sprung floor, wall-to-wall mirrors, a kitchen and our own car park.

  • Real stages, real experience

From local festivals to Sadler’s Wells and Her Majesty’s Theatre in London, our dancers get to perform far beyond the studio.

  • Every child matters

Student welfare is close to Kate’s heart. If your child has a worry, you can always talk to her about it.

Dance classes for every age and stage

Classes are grouped by age and ability, so your child learns alongside dancers at their level. Not sure where to start? Kate will help you choose.

What Willenhall families say

My granddaughter has been there for a few years and her confidence has grown. Kate is a wonderful teacher and the children love her and her team of helpers Megan, James, Liesel and Tim. I would highly recommend to all.

Grandparent of a dancer

My daughter attends Ingram Academy and absolutely loves it. Kate has pushed my daughter so much in her dance, she encouraged her to audition for the Royal Ballet School where she gained a place as a Junior Associate.

My sister loves it at Ingram’s, been there less than a year and already done so much! And she is improving so so much. Big thank you to Kate and Tim for all that they do.

Sister of a dancer

My daughter loves going to dance and loves her teacher. All the kids work hard and this shows in their exam results and the competitions they have competed in.

What age can my child start dance classes?

Children can start from 18 months in our parent and toddler class on Saturday mornings. We teach dancers all the way up to 19 years old, so your child can stay with us from their very first steps to their final exams.

Where is the dance studio?

Our purpose-built studio is at Unit 2 Morgan Close, Willenhall, WV12 4LH, with its own car park. Families travel to us from Short Heath, New Invention, Bloxwich, Walsall, Wednesfield, Darlaston and Wolverhampton.

Does my child need any dance experience?

No. Most of our dancers started with us as complete beginners. Kate will place your child in the class that suits their age and ability.

Do students take dance exams?

Yes. We follow the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) syllabus, a worldwide recognised examination board. Exams run throughout the year and students are encouraged to take as many as they can.

Can my child perform and compete?

Yes. Everyone performs in our school shows, and we have three festival teams who compete at festivals across the West Midlands and at Can You Dance in Nottingham. Dancers can also enter solos, duets and trios.

How do I book a trial class?

Call Kate on 07540 997338 or send us a message with your child’s age and the style they would like to try, and we will find the right class for them.
