A Willenhall dance school with a difference

Not many dance schools are run by a teacher with Kate’s background. Professional training at the Urdang Academy, a dance degree, a PGCE and years of classroom teaching mean she can guide every dancer in the right direction.

Our approach

What makes us different?

Kate was professionally trained at the Urdang Academy, a prestigious school in London. She also has a degree and a PGCE, and has a wealth of experience from working in a mainstream secondary school as well as private dance schools.

At Ingram Academy we give students lots of opportunities, because Kate is ambitious and extremely passionate about what she does. Thanks to her experience and training she can guide people in the right direction and offer genuine advice, whether your child dances for fun or dreams of a career on stage.

  • IDTA syllabus with exams throughout the year
  • School shows and fundraising events for every dancer
  • Three festival teams, plus solos, duets and trios
  • Classes for ages 18 months to 19 years

Our dancers’ stories

A few of the moments we’re proudest of.

Junior Associates at the Royal Ballet

When Darcie joined the Academy she was painfully shy. Kate noticed she had something special and encouraged her mum to enter her for the Royal Ballet Junior Associates audition. Some girls there had tried four times without success; this was Darcie’s first audition, and she won a place.

Darcie now trains with the Royal Ballet on Saturdays throughout the year, with workshops in London alongside professional dancers.

Birmingham Royal Ballet

Lia Paskin won a place to perform with Birmingham Royal Ballet in Cinderella Dreams at the Birmingham Hippodrome, after several gruelling rounds of auditions.

Smile for Joel

We were asked to perform at the Smile for Joel event at Sandwell Valley by Suzanne Evans, who tragically lost her son Joel, her brother and her father in the Tunisia attacks in June 2015. We were honoured to be part of it.

Festivals and competitions

We take part in festivals through the year in Tamworth, Birmingham, Walsall and Wrekin. We enter large groups, and children can also compete in solos and duets. Every year we enter Can You Dance, one of the biggest dance conventions in the country.

We’ve performed at Her Majesty’s Theatre and Sadler’s Wells in London with Mardi Gras, taking forty dancers and two routines.

We even applied for Britain’s Got Talent with our dance Bring Me to Life, and got a ‘yes’ from Simon to go through to the next round. The girls loved every minute, and had great fun spotting themselves on TV on Saturday nights.

What families say

My granddaughter has been there for a few years and her confidence has grown. Kate is a wonderful teacher and the children love her and her team of helpers Megan, James, Liesel and Tim. I would highly recommend to all.

Grandparent of a dancer

My daughter attends Ingram Academy and absolutely loves it. Kate has pushed my daughter so much in her dance, she encouraged her to audition for the Royal Ballet School where she gained a place as a Junior Associate.

Parent of a Royal Ballet Junior Associate

My sister loves it at Ingram’s, been there less than a year and already done so much! And she is improving so so much. Big thank you to Kate and Tim for all that they do.

Sister of a dancer

My daughter loves going to dance and loves her teacher. All the kids work hard and this shows in their exam results and the competitions they have competed in.
